they don't call 'em the SABRES for nothing...

does anyone else find it a bit strange that the only two major skate-to-throat accidents, in the NHL (in my lifetime, anyways), have both occurred in buffalo ? wow... hopefully zednik will have a quick recovery and not suffer from all the PTSD/OCD stuff that plagued malarchuk well into retirement....

additionally, i'm a bit confused if clint malarchuk is currently the goaltending coach for the blue jackets, or an equine dentist....

discuss.

Saw the video on Sportscentre. Easily one of the scariest things I've seen in the NHL. I don't think the image of the blood will be leaving my mind for quite some time.

It's just good to hear that he's going to be okay. I wonder what kind of neck protection backlash will follow this... similar to how much media the visor got after the Berard eye injury a few years back.

the neck protection commentary has been done, though. i believe it started 18 years, 11 months and 11 days ago....

the zednik highlight (lowlight ??) is brutal, to be sure.... but nothing will ever beat the malarchuk replay; the sheer size of the pool of blood in just the first milliseconds..... either way, both are pure slasher-flick gory and absolutely horrifying....

the garbajosa injury might be worse --i wouldn't know... i've HEARD the replay, but never had the guts to actually WATCH.

i just hope zednik doesn't suffer from all the emotional/mental problems that malarchuk did following his on-ice near-death....

Is it just me, or can you actually still see the scar across his throat? Or maybe that's just a fold in his neck skin...
