blind items

so the flames get a rematch against les vestons bleus tonight, and will hopefully implement some of what they learned in the past week to nudge them towards victory.... the last game v. CBJ was fairly close, all things considered, and i expect a much better effort tonight.

aaron johnson will draw in for pardy and we'll see what kind of product he brings to the table. i would imagine him to be quite similar, style-wise, and with only a bit more experience.... paired with gio is a nice, warm, comfortable spot for a newbie (i would think).

i hinted about some gossip over on m&g, and it is entirely based on a friend of mine sitting near enough to two of the better calgary flames blueliners, after the vancouver game on friday night, that he could overhear their conversation.... one of the guys isn't much of a talker (and is apparently smaller in person than one would imagine), so i presume it was the other who expressed his opinion louder, more often, and with far more sarcasm (as is his way). my buddy says he was pretty drunk, so he doesn't remember very much, except for the notable hate-on these two had for a third, younger, well-paid calgary defenseman.... specifically he recalls the more talkative dude announcing that his favorite part of the entire game was this particular teammate, his own defense partner, getting his face smashed on the glass....

interesting.

gio jersey will go for a third straight victory tonight at the dome.
best of luck !!

hm.
you got one right, anyways.

the other one you guessed is not one of the three guys...

someone will guess them.

RR and JB, I'd guess. The "not a talker" certainly sounds like the latter.

I would assume JB and RR although i have to admit I think it a little hard to believe Regher is the "loud talker." Can anyone really imagine regher just outright bashing a team mate like that, let alone carrying the conversation. I once ran into the entire team having dinner at Joeys in Edmonton and I have to say in observing them the table rotated around noodles (he was playing then still) and conroy. Regher was silent. My buddy even tried to talk to him a bit and he was the quietest guy.

Regardless, if johnson can handle the load and the return is good Im all game. Hes young but I have decided hes more of the jovo variety than Pronger. His value is pretty high right now and I would trade him for a good young talent; someone presumably you could build a team around.

perhaps the louder of the two had a few pilsners in'im....

and yeah. those are the right ones.

What would be the ideal return for forehead if we were to trade him? Just curious on people's opinions about that. Maybe we could get a 'playmaking center' for Iggy? ;)

S:
i think we already did get a playmaking centre for iggy. his name's jokinen, and he doesn't work... we also got tanguay for iggy, and squid for iggy and juice for iggy and they've all (in some way) failed or dispersed.

iggy needs to work with what he's got.

WI, I think you should just have stopped that reply for words sooner...

somewhere the 7+mm crew on this team seems to have received the message that if you are a top of salary chart, you can wait for others to work to get the puck for you to just snipe it and convert.

Sorry, I was joking about the 'playmaking center'. Thought the quotes indicated that. Seriously though, what would you want in return for Dion?

S: i am apparently blind to reading sarcasm, even when it's entirely obvious like it is in your comment.

i'm not quite ready to give up on dion just yet. but the return would have to be A-calibre, good value (not "cheap" but good value) and under contract for not more than 4 years and not less than 2.
