i'm not worried.... yet

it's a bit unnerving to see the flames lose 3-0, 3-2, and then 4-0 but i am honestly not all that concerned (yet). kipper seemed to have a decent half-game, and although tanguay is playing constantly with lombardi, they have yet to be reunited in a game situation with our top RW. defensive pairings are still being worked out, and some of the baby flames are still fighting for the 12th roster spot...

i'm devastated that 13 players got sent to the quad cities on wednesday following a game that there are no stats available for. it's not that i'm bummed that i didn't get to see tomi mäki play, it's that there's no way to know if he deserved the demotion...

after last night's loss to the 'nucks (and their scoring youngsters), i would have to say that grant stevenson, eric godard & our boy DVDG are sounding like the favorites to make the big club. with mäki gone, we all know who my pick is...

saturday night v. edmonton. let's get it together....

Yeah, with that many rookies in camp AND a new coach/systems, I'm not going to get all worried about a few preseason games. A smart coach, I think, is trying stuff out in exhibition and not trying to win games at all costs.

Also, why Stevenson/Godard/DVDG vs. Boyd/Prust/others? I'm relying on your proximity to events as I'm stuck in Toronto. Don't let me down.

Godard only because he has a cheap, one-way contract. Otherwise, he's been all kinds of terrible. In Vancouver, he took 18 minutes worth of needless penalties and did little else.

His very presence in the line-up is starting to irritate me.

Oooo. I think we have somebody to replace our favourite player, Andrea...

Have to admit, I was surprised when I learned he had a one-way deal.

godard is only good for one thing, and will therefore be a contender for the 12th spot in games vs. teams like vancouver & edmonton. so there's 16 games right there...

DVDG was the 3rd star last night and the only flame on that podium. i've seen the guy play (prospect camp) and thought he looked effin' ready. peter maher and rob kerr couldn't stop praising him v. vancouver; his second straight outing. ie: he's turning heads.

stevenson has also garnered a shizeload of icetime in the past few games (well, i don't know about saskatoon buuuut....).

prust is rehabbing from hip surgery last month.

boyd also has a good shot, clearly. but i honestly feel like he'll get another year in the A. mostly based on how hard the coaches were riding him in prospect camp, and how lazy he still looked...
