Maybe some of Jeromes consistancy can rub off on him. As far as Tanguay goes, I really like having him on the second line and I think as the younger guys like Lombo, Nystrom and Boyd develop more and more Tanguay will be a great asset. I think we have some dead weight we can loose in the offseason in Primeau and Nilson and hopefully Conroy will take the old 'hometown discount'. I like having Warrener around, they always seem to find a way to win when he's in the lineup and he's definitly improved since last year. Maybe we shouldn't worry so much about all the salary cap issues and who does what at the end of the season and just sit back and really enjoy some damn fine hockey by our hometown BoyZ.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-30831003928328689612008-01-03T11:53:00.000-07:002008-01-03T11:53:00.000-07:00i've been poring over nhlnumbers, looking for a sp...i've been poring over nhlnumbers, looking for a spot to save some dough.... maybe we can unload primeau in a zyuzin-for-aucoin type deal ? maybe we can buy out warrener ? tanguay still stands out as the glaringly obvious when it comes to expendable cap space, unfortunately, or aucoin perhaps. but phaneuf is rumoured to be seeking the 10 mil that he could (feasibly) get in an offer sheet, so i'm sayin' sutter should definitely be focussing on signing juice in the interim....

you should see the size, speed and skill of negrin. he's young, yes, and a few years away, sure. but for a kid, he honestly looked full to the brim with potential back in prospect camp.... he's only 18 years old and stats out at 190lbs (ie: he's gonna be HUGE). he's got 31 points in 38 games for the ice, and currently sits at +10. i project that the dude is gonna be a monster....walkinvisiblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08874510508773958406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-38730284073858162852008-01-03T11:50:00.000-07:002008-01-03T11:50:00.000-07:00Staal has sure got a lot of responsibility in NY t...Staal has sure got a lot of responsibility in NY though doesn't he, I actually thought he looked really good aside from that play.

The only option in regards to Huselius is to dump Tanguay, I've been saying it for months now. Although I agree with you in that Dion is going to fetch the biggest reward from that group and so it's possible he may be the one to go - but I wouldn't bet on it.

-therealdealAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-64771142393187383832008-01-03T10:05:00.000-07:002008-01-03T10:05:00.000-07:00Huselius is certainly looking less and less expend...Huselius is certainly looking less and less expendable these days. But I don't see dealing Phaneuf as the answer. If Huselius becomes a "must sign", Tanguay's days are numbered. Dion is a generational talent (although he still lacks polish in his own end). That's something you don't deal (unless you get another one in return...see: Heatley for Hossa trade). Either the Flames lock him up long-term or they accept the 4 first rounders they could get from a 10M/year RFA offerseet.

Aucoin's offensive numbers are nice, but probably transient. He's bound to fall back to career norms or get injured at some point...not to mention he can't play against anyone above a 3rd liner anymore. As for Negrin - he's at least 3 years away, assuming he ever becomes a NHL player in the first place.Kent W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15679878875910837307noreply@blogger.com
