I will agree there was much gnashing of teeth...KJ,

I will agree there was much gnashing of teeth and wailing at the time, but I think much of it was driven by the contemporaneous signings of Jokinen and Ivanans.

The team was capped out and needed bodies. In the case of Tanguay in particular, they needed someone who might be a first line (or at least Top 6) type of player. Sutter went out and signed reasonable bets to beat their contracts in Tanguay and Jackman. Those bets have paid off.

Of course the reason we needed to go bargain hunting was that we had $9 million tied up in the likes of Jokinen, Hagman and Kotalik (and in case that wasn't barf worthy enough the same trio is tied up next year as well), the buyout of Dawes, the aforementioned Ivanans cap hit...

Like I said, he had to go, but things could be oh so much worse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-66879203319710354012011-03-23T21:37:24.504-06:002011-03-23T21:37:24.504-06:00You're right Tach. In hindsight, the Jackman signing was nice, so was the Morrison signing (I'll reserve my rights on the Tangs one). But at the time, Daz' signings this past summer were gambles and were punchlines to the media. Today we can agree they were not all failures but you have to look at it at the time...and aside from Flames faithful and local media its not like anyone is impressed by the Flames offseason moves.

Plain and simple, Daz was on thin ice and that's what he signs. It came off as moronic and just fueled the disdain. If he was really behind the Feaster hiring, that was a lucid brainfart as well.KingJafihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09061390305989850425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-82118514608737070132011-03-22T11:48:54.112-06:002011-03-22T11:48:54.112-06:00All free agent signings in summer 2010 - seriously...All free agent signings in summer 2010 - seriously?

Alex Tanguay?

Tim Jackman?

Sutter had to go, but its not like we are cheering for Edmonton here.

-TachAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-80908777920808261502011-03-21T21:09:23.656-06:002011-03-21T21:09:23.656-06:00Sure, no problem...I just hope it wasn't fille...Sure, no problem...I just hope it wasn't filled with too much vitiligo.KingJafihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09061390305989850425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-85734653136401202072011-03-21T20:13:24.708-06:002011-03-21T20:13:24.708-06:00thank you so much for posting. it had become very ...thank you so much for posting. it had become very difficult for me to even consider writing and a subject was impossible to settle on...

i'll be better soon, i swear.walkinvisiblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08874510508773958406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-83578434804728143862011-03-21T18:54:19.813-06:002011-03-21T18:54:19.813-06:00RAGEEEEEEEEEERAGEEEEEEEEEEJAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05503909557784341325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5853674483927136845.post-1583792571397750602011-03-21T18:21:06.085-06:002011-03-21T18:21:06.085-06:00Wow Jafi...
